How to boost the curb appeal of your mobile home part-2

Boost curb appeal

One of the more challenging aspects about homeownership is maintaining its curb appeal. That bodes especially true for mobile homeowners. So today, we’re going to talk about just that. Here are some tips you can use to really help your mobile home stand apart from the pack and look as appealing as possible to potential buyers.

Let’s jump right in!

Install a unique front door

While mobile home designs have become galaxies in even the last ten years, the one element that still lags behind is when it comes to most mobile home’s doors. Many look cookie cutter and frankly, function trumps all forms.

The good news about this is that replacing your mobile home’s door is a really easy fix that isn’t expensive and can really make a substantial impact on how someone looks at your home. Don’t be afraid to look for a door with eye-catching details like raised panels, windows and 9-lite. Even more traditional looking doors with a cool looking door knocker can really add a lot of character to your home.

Spruce up the skirting

Mobile homes almost all stand on top of a cement pad that works as a minimal foundation and between it and the home is where all the pipes, wiring, etc live. Skirting hides all that from the common view but let’s not kid ourselves – skirting can take a pounding depending on how severe the weather in your area is, which can leave it worn and looking not so hot.

Now again – just like your front door – skirting is an easy, in many cases DIY, inexpensive fix that can pay huge dividends. Even better than doors though – skirting has progressed well beyond the traditional lattice or vinyl options. You can get polyurethane that mimics bricks, stone or rock that looks more like a foundation than a cover. There are even steel and wood options for you to choose from.

Replacing steps with a porch

The simple addition of a small porch to your mobile home can really make it look like a traditional one in no time flat. Not only that, but people crave relaxation spaces in their homes and as such, the more they can see themselves hanging out in an inviting space, the more likely they are to want to purchase the home. Porches and decks are great – although we’ll admit – the price here can get rangy, especially when it comes to load bearing supports in and around your home.

Particularly if you live in a community or are part of an HOA, you’ll want to make sure you abide by the guidelines laid forth as well. Just make sure you have your I’s dotted and your T’s crossed!
