Mobile homes give you a whole other element to think about when it comes to these sorts of scenarios, and that’s why we’re here today. Here are some tips on what you can do in the event you’re ever evacuated from your mobile home.
Check your insurance policy
If you live in an area where flooding and hurricane damage is a real risk, then you need to prioritize this. Check your insurance policy to see what will be covered. If things like flooding aren’t covered under your policy, then make sure you invest in it. If you have it, take a copy of your policy with you. You’ll probably need it.
Secure your property
Make sure you move things like electrical items and other valuables to higher ground or set them in a higher space in your mobile home. That way, you don’t have to bring them and in the event there’s flooding, they’re at less of a risk of being damaged or lost.
Tie down loose objects outside
Whether it’s a hurricane or a flood – it’s important you tie down your belongings outdoors or place them inside where they can’t be blown away or won’t float away. These things can become a hazard to others if left out, so do the right thing.
Cover your windows
This should go without saying, but you’ll want to make sure your windows and entrances are boarded up so as to avoid things like broken glass. In addition, it’ll help keep water from getting into your home and damaging it.

Yep, we know it’s a little gross but it’s important to do. Why? Because it’ll help dramatically mitigate sewage backflow in the event of flooding. While flooring in mobile homes tends to be a little more resistant than in traditional homes, damage can be compounded and repairs and cleaning could be significant.
