Mobile home spring maintenance is a thing that you’ll need to make sure to handle when owning one of these structures – even in Florida! Depending on where you live, winter brings with it some challenges to deal with, particularly if you own a mobile home. And with challenges come headaches. But now that it’s the warm season, it’s time to get to work and get past those headaches.
Everyone knows about the concept of the spring clean – a time where we can start fresh and with a clean slate. That being said, it’s also important to make sure you do a maintenance run through to make sure everything’s running the way it’s supposed to. Here are some tips of things you should be looking for in the spring to make sure your mobile home is in tip-top shape and ready to go in the summer months.
Let’s jump right in!
De-winterizing your home
Seems a little oxymoronic, but any of the precautions you took prior to the winter months to safeguard against potential hazards should be scaled back to their normal state. For example, tighten up die-downs if you relaxed them for the winter. If you closed off the water to an unused mobile home – it’s now time to switch them back on. If there were other temporary measures you took, it’s time to take care of them.
Give your furnace and HVAC system a quick run-through
Whether you live in warm or cold weather – your HVAC system is the thing in your home that will take the biggest pounding over the course of a regular year. This isn’t so much a spring-specific tip as much as it is a thing that you should be working into your spring walkthroughs. Get your air ducts cleaned, change over your filters, check your belts, thermostats (program them accordingly) and the like. We recommend getting a maintenance plan through a local HVAC tech as they’ll be able to do everything you need affordably and quickly. Either way – make sure you get your system maintained.
Check your roof
If there’s any place that is on the receiving end of the elements – it’s your roof. In the spring, it’s time to check on it to clear off any excess debris, check for leaks, any missing or broken tiles, check your pipes if you have any routed through that area and the like. It’s also a good time to go through your gutters and pull out whatever fun might be lurking. Roofs are expensive and roofs are important. Make sure you’re always keeping an eye on yours.
Check your skirting
Skirting is an essential ingredient to your mobile home as it protects your home’s underbelly from all sorts of badies – whether it’s pests, water or debris. Especially in the summer, the skirting will also help to keep your home cooler as it helps insulate the cold air inside your home. Make sure everything is in good, working shape.
Your foundation might need help
While you’re down there, check your foundation as well. Soil that contracts and expands because of temperature changes can do a number on any substance, particularly the kinds that help prop up mobile homes. Look for any signs of cracking, heaving or deterioration.
Your home is your most prized possession and you shouldn’t ever take its needs for granted. Mobile home spring maintenance is a thing and we can help with that. Take advantage of this time to start fresh! Good luck!
